General Information

Since February 2008 JSC KazTransOil, a subsidiary of JSC NC KazMunayGas, has been the owner of the “Batumi Oil Terminal” Ltd (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”).

The company has the exclusive management rights in relation to 100% of the share of the “Batumi Sea Port” Ltd.

Objectives of the Company:

Provision of services on oil, oil products and gas transshipment, transportation, forwarding, acquisition and sale, as well as the products of their processing (hereinafter – “the Cargo”);

The effective management of 100% of the state-owned share in the “Batumi Sea Port” Ltd;

Creation of new competitive capacities and reconstruction of the existing technical and technological infrastructure in order to ensure the transshipment of maximum quantity of the cargos.

Description

The BOT is located on the Black Sea shore, in the city boundaries of Batumi, Georgia, and offers its customers transshipment services for crude oil and oil products from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, and other countries.

The BOT main territory comprises circa 85 hectares, it accommodates five tank farms and the oil loading complex.

The technological center of the BOT is the Main Area, which includes the main rail estacades, the quality control laboratory, as well as the boiler facility designed for the steam generation and heating of dark oil products.

The main BOT competitive advantage is its flexibility of storage and transshipment of a wide variety of oil and oil products. The BOT enables to transship up to 22 types of oil and oil products. The Cargo is delivered to the BOT by the railway and is then discharged into the tank farms through the specialized railcar estacades, and the reverse process is also possible - the receipt of cargo by the tanker, discharge into the tanks and loading onto the tank cars.  

The BOT operates 7 discharge railway estacades capable to simultaneously discharge/ load up to 204 rail tank cars or more than 482 rail tank cars per day. Pipeline system connects all estacades to various tank farms, securing the operational flexibility of the BOT. The main estacade is equipped by a system of multilevel heating for heavy and high viscosity oil and oil products. Data electronic processing systems control the discharge processes at all BOT estacades.

After the discharge, the oil and oil products are collected and stored in the segregated tank farms.

At present, the BOT operates five tank farms comprising 135 tanks with the total capacity of up to 597 thousand m3. 

Three tank farms are used for crude oil storage, namely “Kapreshumi”, “Kholodnaya Sloboda” and the “Main Territory”. “Kapreshumi” includes 21 tanks with a total capacity of 190 000 м3. “Kholodnaya Sloboda” comprises 8 tanks with a total capacity of 60 000 m3. The “Main Territory” has 8 oil tanks with a total capacity of 37 000 м3.   

Two tank farms located on the “Main Territory” are intended for the storage of fuel oil, diesel fuel and aviation kerosene. The total volume of the parks is 261 900 m3.

The BOT accommodates the sole LPG terminal in Georgia, designed to store, transship and export LPG from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. The tank farm has a capacity of 5 000 m3, the terminal is also equipped by the railway estacade for the discharge of 14 railcars.

The Oil Base import transshipment facility, which provides services for the import of the light oil products for the Georgian and Armenian markets, is also located here. The Oil Base is equipped with 17 tanks with a total storage capacity of 45 900 m3, with the railway estacade for the discharge of 10 railcars, as well as the truck loading facility for 5 tank-cars.

The loading of oil tankers is performed at three marine berths and the conventional buoy mooring (CBM), leased from the BSP. The CBM is the BOT’s largest loading facility with the ability to serve the tankers with the deadweight of up to 140,000 tons.

Oil Berths

The oil-loading complex is the most important facility of the BOT and it consists of three berths and the single buoy mooring (SBM). The environmental laboratory, the function of which is to conduct a constant monitoring of the environment and treatment facilities, intended for the cleaning of the drain and ballast water is also located on the territory of the berths.

Berth No 1 can handle vessels for loading of all types of the oil products except        liquefied gas.  

Berth characteristics:

The maximum deadweight of the vessel – 45 000 tons.

The length – 200 meters.

The depth - 11.2 meters (safe draft - 10.7 meters)

Berth No 2 can handle vessels for loading of all types of the oil products including liquefied gas.

Berth characteristics:

The maximum deadweight – 16 000 tons.

The length – 140 meters.

The depth – 8,7 meters.

The safe draft – 8,2 meters.

Berth No 3 can handle vessels for loading of all types of oil products except    liquefied gas.  

Berth characteristics:

The maximum deadweight – 25 000 tons.

The length – 165 meters.

The depth – 9,1 meters.

The SBM is capable to serve vessels for loading of the crude oil. The SBM is equipped with two underwater hoses, through which the loading operations are carried out.

SBM characteristics:

The maximum deadweight – 140 000 tons.

The length – 250 meters.

The depth – 14,5 meters.

The safe draft – 13,5 meters.   

Each berth is equipped with the vapor filtering system, which prevents hydrocarbon vapors emission during the loading operations.
