Memorandum on cooperation with the Batumi State Maritime Academy
On 22 May 2018 a ceremony for the signing of the Memorandum on mutual cooperation between “Batumi Oil Terminal” Ltd and LEPL Batumi State Maritime Academy at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia was held in the conference hall of the Batumi State Maritime Academy. From the Academy the Memorandum was signed by the rector Irakli Sharabidze, from the Batumi Terminal – by the General Director Murat Jumadillayev.
According to the Memorandum terms, the Terminal, as necessary, will apply to Maritime Academy on the personnel training issues, and the Academy, for its part, will provide services on arranging and carrying out of training/ professional retraining/ qualification upgrading courses for the employees of the Batumi Terminal.
Upon completion of the educational program courses, based on the test results, the Academy will issue the appropriate certificates that confirm the professional qualification of the employees, according to the requirements of the International and National Standards, and satisfying the terms, defined by the supervisory bodies.
Thus, on initial stage of cooperation, retraining and appraisal of 21 lifting device operators and persons, responsible for good technical condition, safe operation and safe cargo handling works have already been planned. In addition, a retraining program for electric welders and gas cutters is in development stage.
Within the joint implementation projects and the sharing of the experience limits the Terminal, for its part, will provide educational and productive traineeship for the bachelors and students having the professional education of the Academy according to the previously agreed program, which will allow students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice, gained in Academy.
In the future the implementation of the special educational programs is planned, tooled for the production needs of the Terminal, which should be an excellent prerequisite for the creation of the personnel reserve base.
Thus, the cooperation of the parties that have signed the Memorandum is aimed to establish the effective interaction between the educational institution and the production entity and is appealed to provide both as the high level of the professional training for the employees of the Batumi Oil Terminal and so the creation of favorable conditions for the involving of the Academy students in the production process.
